How I sold my Car Twice…

Sell a Car in UAE

Well, it was a very considerably long procedure for me to find the right buyer. But at last, I sold it at a reasonable rate. I purchased my car in 2016 via the Dubizzle ad from a Pakistani guy who apparently lied to me. However, I drove it for more than 3 years with zero accidents. I maintained my corolla regularly by myself. I wanted to upgrade my car for my family so I decided to search for how to sell a car in UAE. Also, you can check how to renew car online in Dubai.

No doubt it was the best budget car one can own in GCC. Toyota Corrolla 2.0, Limited Edition,key-less entry, etc, and shiny black color. So I had a pre-defined budget and need to sell my car in UAE.

1. Why?

The only reason was to upgrade my sedan car to SUV/crossover. My job includes 60 to 80% traveling, and it was difficult to get parking sometime, and SUV is easier to park in ramal. Once you have a reason, you need to evaluate your car and set your target price. Apart from this consider the budget for a new car so that you don’t add up paying a huge amount for new car.

2.When ?

I was waiting for my 3rd renewal of Vehicle registration, as it could save you some amount of money and insurance fees. So track your renewal dates and try to sell it two months prior to your renewal date so that you don’t waste your money on the insurance policy. Insurance is refundable but still, it requires paperwork, and the full amount is not refunded. So planned to sell it before registration renewal. You can check here for getting insurance policy.

3.Where ?

I had multiple options such as personal network and commercial websites for selling my car. I tried referring to my friends but it was not going as I planned. So I decided to sell it on Dubbizle. It was a good experience using Dubizzle portal selling my car but it was painful experience with potential buyers. Posting ad on Dubizzle for car is paid service, I paid around 240 AED /- for posting a single ad. You can choose Pro service from Dubbizle in which they will handle the complete process right from posting an ad till selling.

My ad got good response as I placed my car within a reasonable price range. Toyota Corolla 2015 model is in good demand as it is a maintenance-free car. While your ad is live you can visit Car souq in Ras Al Khor for checking the car’s worth. Believe me, don’t ever go to a trader for selling your car or sell it for quick cash. They will dishearten you by offering a very cheap price as if you are selling a scrap. There can be a win-win situation with trader if you are planning to exchange car but depends on your luck and budget.

Time Frame :

It took almost a month for me to sell my car. More than 10 prospects came to view my car but everyone was a low baller. One working lady agreed on a price and gave me a token amount of 500 AED. She wanted to get it on loan so I was waiting for the final down payment amount. Once the loan is approved LPO is issued from the bank. I had to change my ad description that its sold, and had to refuse it for new buyers. After a few days she said she cannot buy the car as her loan was not approved.

It was really disappointing as I refused many potential buyers and had to give back 500 AED. Then came a guy who took the car to a garage and checked all the points before buying and gave me 1000 AED as token amount. Again the same story repeated and had to give him back 1000 AED. I received so many calls and messages but everyone was a low baller and were not serious about it.

Days passed and I couldn’t find the right buyer and I already purchased a new car so I had to reduce the price on Dubizzle.

Finally, I received a call from Saudi Arabia for my car. Yes! you read it the right car was sold to a Saudi National. He came to UAE via road and bought my car in the first instance. As my car was in the best condition out of all the other cars he saw. It was very unexpected and finally, the Toyota Corolla was gone.
