Yes, Dubai is scam-free unless you get scam. There are many ways you can be scammed in UAE. Due to Digitalization in this modern world, people can scam you from any corner of the world. It is very easy these days to create a Fake Social Media presence and misleading deals for all.

Types of Scam in Dubai:

Traveling Membership: They claim to provide you with discounted rates for staycation throughout the year or a dedicated number of days by becoming their members. Refer to the article on Gulf News -Holiday scam

Lottery: This type of scam claims that you have won a lottery and we have to pay certain amounts to claim the price.

Credit Card: They claim that your credit card has been blocked and in order to unblock their link and follow the instructions. Undoubtedly these are fake messages with scamming links.

Job Offer : This is very common scam in UAE as most of the people desire to live in best country -UAE. Not only freshers falls into the trap but also experienced candidate also suffers.

Fake Product Scam: This type of scam involves discounted products which undoubtedly is a copy product.

How I got scammed!

Even I was scammed by a travel company ” Yez Dreams Loyalty Card Service “. I visited the Sharjah Expo Center during the Ramadan Night sale and filled in some details for a raffle draw. Ultimately it was their modus operandi of collecting details for visitors.

Subsequently, after a few days, I got a call from one travel company claiming that I have won the gifts and discount coupons. They invited us to collect the coupon and gave a small presentation for their membership.

Undoubtedly I took a calculated risk of 10,000 AED and ask them to book an immediate trip to Thailand. They agreed to book it on an immediate basis but unfortunately, I didn’t get the flight on the desired date so had to change my itinerary to Georgia.

Everything went well in Georgia, and later I wanted to book the tickets for Salalah, Oman. I emailed them but there was no response. Apart from this I tried calling them but no one was answering. I decided to go to their office and realized that I have been scammed.

I tried to gather more information and visited their Facebook Page, and found a lot of other victims.

How To Avoid Scam :

After being a victim I have decided not to fall prey to such scams again. And I am trying to warn others too. Sometime back I was in Sharaf DG and a lady asked me if I can take a part in the survey. I was very blunt and asked her who are you and is she from Sharaf DG. She was from some credit card company and just wanted to collect data. So before providing any details to anyone ask them about their company name and identity card.

• Do not click on suspicious links.
• Don’t share your details in any unofficial surveys.
• Do not leave your contact details on social media.
• Buy from the official website.
• Cross-check domain of the sender.

The Middle East is known for there desert and hot temperatures. Dubai temperature varies throughout the year and summers are unbearable. Some attractions are closed during the summer season. Whether you are a solo traveler, couple, or family or a group of friends Dubai visit will never fail to amaze you. Based on the group size and budget you can book accommodation. The more you pay the more privilege you get. Also price varies from location to location. I recommend to stay in Bur Dubai as it has got good connectivity. You can also look for a hotel apartment if you are planning to cook food on your own. I recommend using a booking.com application for exploring various accommodation options.

Transportation

Road Transport Authority is well organized in Dubai. Taxi, bus, metros, trams are available at almost all the locations. Google Maps is also very handy for getting a ride mode of transportation. Uber app, carreem app are recommended for booking cabs. For using the metro and RTA bus you will need an NOL card. NOL card is a prepaid card that is required to swipe at entry and exit points.

Food

If you are foodie , you need to control your emotions. Dubai offers wide range of cuisine with finger biting taste. Sea foods, Mediternian , Indian, Chinese ,Mughlai and what not all are availble in Dubai. If you follow me on instagram you might be knowing the right place to visit. Zomato, Deliveroo, Uber eats, Talabat , etc will come handy for selecting restaurants.

Advance booking

Most of the places advance booking is not required. You can access the attraction by paying via NOL card or buying tickets on the spot. Dubai fountain is free of cost. For visiting, Top of Burj Khalifa advance booking is required. Same goes for desert safari, book it according to your requirement.

Itinerary for Dubai

One week seems less for Dubai,but you can plan accordingly. There are some additional places you can explore if you have local friends or family. Jebel Hafeet, Al Ain and Jebel Jais are mountain peaks in UAE and it requires half of your day so you can skip it.

Day 1 : Burj Khalifa , Dubai Mall, Fountain.

Visit Burj Khalifa in the morning and explore Dubai Mall. Dubai Mall is very huge so make your you take your pain killers LOL. You need to walk a lot inside the mall. Relax near the fountain and enjoy the show.

Day 2 : Palm Jumeirah , Desert Safari

Start your day by visiting Palm Jumeirah . You can take a tram as well to explore the fascinating view of the Palm shaped island. By noon you can go back to your pick up point for Desert Safari. Desert Safari usually starts at 4 p.m so you can have your lunch by that time.

Day 3 : La Mer Beach, Kite Beach , Jumeirah Beach Burj Al Arab

Cover Jumeirah stretch on 3rd day. La Mer beach is referred for fine dining and shopping. You can spend some time at Kite beach and move ahead for Burj Al Arab. While going back you can hop on to Antar Cafeteria for tasty shwarma and burgers.

Day 4: Miracle Garden, Butterfly Garden, Love Lake,Global Village

Plan your trip to Miracle Garden, Butterfly Garden, and Global Village. All these attractions are close by. You can start your visit by Miracle Garden. The butterfly garden is opposite to Miracle Garden. After finishing the Butterfly garden you can take a cab to Global Village at a very reasonable rate. Undoubtedly you will enjoy global village to the core.

Day 5 : Abu Dhabi, Grand Mosque , Ferrari World, Yas Island

Start your trip by visiting Ferrari world early morning. If you intend to visit Ferrari world you need to spend the entire day. Its up to you for going inside Ferrari World or Explore from outside. After this, you can move to visit Grand Mosque. After finishing the Grand mosque visit Marina Mall and Abu Dhabi Corniche.

Day 6: Dubai Museum , Meena Bazar , City Centre Naif Souq.

On the sixth day, you can dedicate yourself to shopping. Shopping is attractive to women and indeed to many men. You can visit Dubai Museum in the morning hours and spend time around Meena Bazar. After finishing shopping you can take abra ( Boat ride ) at 1 AED to travel to Diera. Diera is the busiest place for tourists. In addition to this prepare your shopping list in advance to utilize your time. Last but not least prepare your budget as well.

Day 7: Theme parks.

Theme parks like Motion Gate, IMG World of Adventure, etc on the 7th day. Also, you can go for a Dolphin show or sky diving based on your interest. Please note Friday and Saturday are weekends in UAE so timing may affect your visit.
